Joint Module II: Going local, Pekre

Joint Module II: Going local, Pekre

On May 7th we have organised a bit different Going local event in a small town called Pekre, close to Maribor. The main event was a performance of different impro groups that work in different schools and associations in the region of Štajerska (which is on the east side of Slovenia and represents a region which is of need of bigger cultural offer, especially for the younger audiences) and address our final target group in the project – the young. One of the groups, Radgonska deca from Primary school Gornja Radgona that was also co-hosting the event, has been started and created because their teacher and mentor Romana Slavič Žnuderl attended the workshop in Young theatre project (a predecessor to Young theatre on the move project). Romana is still a regular participant in our educational modules and has connected also with Mojca Frim, an impro pedagogue that works in Štajerska region and works with different schools and associations, and her main performance group is Banda Ferdamana, Štajerska based impro collective.
The event was therefore meant as an improvised show with different groups of the young – two from cultural home Pekre, where the performance was organised, one from Gornja Radgona and the 4th one was the Going local visit from the group from Pionirski dom, Ljubljana. The ideal of this Going local event was that not only we join the event with the group of young performers, but also our lead trainer, Urša Strehar Benčina, performed a short warm-up session and shared the knowledge from the project with 30 young participants from 4 different groups.
